Our Beginnings Standard tile was founded in Brooklyn in 1920. Our family expanded to New Jersey during the 1950's and so did our business . We opened our second showroom in 1963. Over the years we've grown to seven retail locations and one wholesale division. We are proud to be one of New Jersey's largest family-owned ceramic tile distributors.

Porcelain Tile: Porcelain is a man-made tile that has taken over the ceramic tile industry. Porcelain is much denser and stronger than ceramic tile. The physical make up of porcelain allows for manufacturing techniques that result in a more natural looking product. The consumer receives the most attractive tile. In all Standard Tile Showrooms approximately 80 percent of our wall and floor tile are made of porcelain.  The looks range from ultra modern to the Old World Tuscany and everything in between.
 
 
Ceramic Tile:  The most common use of our Ceramic tile is reserved for wall application. Our complete line of Ceramic tile is manufactured by Villeroy and Boch; the oldest maker of ceramic tile in the world today. Villeroy and Boch take pride in their quality and incorporate cutting edge technology. The finished product is a cross between a traditional and European look. The quality and diversity of Villeroy and Boch Ceramic tile has been a favorite with many of our customers for years.
 
Glass Tile:  The glass mosaics have been surging in popularity for the past 5 years.  We believe that Glass tile is not a trend that will fade, but is a tile that is here to stay. When glass mosaics were first introduced they were only available in very limited sizes and color. But this part of industry is constantly evolving. We now have glass mosaics in over hundred different colors with multiple sizes, and applications have gone from a simple kitchen backsplash to full shower stalls as well as floor applications. Standard Tile also offers metal-infused glass tile.  The trend now is toward larger sizes such as 12x12 for the floor and wall, in addition to various rectangular sizes.
 
Stone:  Stone has become a significant part of our Standard Tile’s business. We have a specific room that we call the stone gallery featuring a seemingly endless selection of colors and finishes. We offer mosaics in multiple sizes with finishes such has honed, tumbled, polished, velvet touch, and more.  Our stones come in many forms including travertine, marble granite limestone, slate, and onyx. The rustic finishes on many of our stones add tremendous feel to room. Stone is the real deal, adding an elegance and upscale feel that is undeniable.
 
Subway Tile:  The name has taken on so much more than what its original intent. Subway tile was only a white glossy rectangular tile used to recreate a period look usually from the 1920's. Now we have subway tile in all sorts of rectangular shapes from a 1"x2' mosaic to a 12"x24" porcelain tile, as well as in many colors. In fact, our traditional 3x6 white subway tile has become a staple in our stores.
